Animals - Absorb

This week we have been looking at the different ways we can classify animals. The children have used the computers to research animals and wrote down the names of any animals they hadn't heard of. This was lots of fun and I learnt a lot too! This is Christians work from Tuesday.

Animals

This week we begin our new topic - Animals. This will be an inquiry for 5 weeks. The children will be able to investigate an animal of their choice. This topic will provide opportunities for the children to direct their own learning and to improve their research skills on the computer. Room 9, start thinking about an animal you would like to know more about and let the fun begin tomorrow!

Willowbank Visit

Dear Parents,

Our topic for the second half of this term is Animals. On Thursday 2nd September the M Team will be travelling to Willowbank Wildlife Reserve to experience New Zealand wildlife, Kiwi and other native birds and animals up close.
We will be leaving school at 9:15am and return early in the afternoon. Morning Tea and Lunch will be packed from home and eaten at the reserve.
The cost of the trip is $12 per child. This covers our bus, admission to Willowbank and a guided tour of the New Zealand section of the reserve. The cost will be charged to your school account.
We will require quite a few parent helpers for this day.

It should be a fantastic day out, if you can help please send the notice back to school or come and see me.

HELP NEEDED!

The PTA phonebook fundraiser kicks off this Thursday. We need lots of helpers to bag the phone books.
This will be happening in the school hall from 9am Thursday. If you can give any of your time throughout the day to helping us, it would be greatly appreciated. Just come to the hall and there will be someone there to direct you.
This will be happening Friday 8.30am-5.00pm, Sat & Sun 8am-4pm.
Even if you can only spare an hour of your time on one of these days it would help us!
Support our school and support your children!

Cloud Types

Here are some of the cloud types we are learning about.
Have a look and see what types you can see outside!

Handwriting

In Room 9 at the moment we are having a focus on Handwriting and how well the children present their work. It would be great if you could be encouraging tidy, readable work at home too. Here are a couple of examples from Kieran and Danielle.

THE PTA NEED YOUR HELP!

The PTA really needs your help!

This year we have undertaken the delivery of the Halswell area phonebooks as one of our fundraisers.

The delivery takes place over a 10 day period beginning the 13th August. We need volunteers to help with Bagging them for 3 days beforehand, delivery during business hours and also the weekends. You do not have to assist with all of these, any help is appreciated. If you have a car and trailer that can be used please let us know.

This is a unique fundraiser in that we are not asking for money, just your time, in any small way you are able. If you are able to assist please approach any PTA member or fill in the form in the office with your contact details and details of what you are able to offer. Or contact Selina Wylie on 021 366778, selina.aj@gmail.com.
