Are you Graced?

In Religious Education the children have been looking at what it means to be graced and how they can live a graced life. Our Activboard has helped us to learn that Grace is the presence and life of God in our lives. Here are the children a couple of weeks ago in one of our lessons.

EnviroSchools, Web of Life

This week we have been looking at the inter-relatedness of plants and animals. We went outside as a class and had one of the children stand in the middle of our circle as a tree. Then we named the things that have a relationship with the tree. The children were able to see an ecosystem right outside the classroom. We then explored things that could disrupt this ecosystem and how we can best protect it.

This was a fantastic learning opportunity for the children to see how they can help our school environment.

Awesome Assembly

Today Room 9 led the school Assembly. Xavier and Jamie did a fantastic job being our leaders. The children did a dance to a Jack Johnson song, "The 3 R's" which stands for Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Our Great Dancers!

Please have a listen to the song the children danced to. A great message for the all the children at OLA.

Well done to Angus for getting the award this week.

Religious Education

Next week we will be saying the "Our Father" each morning to ensure that the children are using the right words. It would be great if you could go over the words at home so the children are confident at saying this prayer on their own.

Our Father, Who art in heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name;Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Sport Super-Stars!

In Room 9 for the past two weeks we have been learning how to play T/Ball. The children had their final game today before they rotate to a different sport. It was great to see them using the skills they have learnt to enhance their performance.

Good luck for your next sport Room 9!

Me in my Environment

This year Our Lady of the Assumption School is becoming an Enviroschool. This means we are learning how to become economically sustainable. This term the children are exploring our school environment and identifying areas that they would like to improve. Yesterday we went out and investigated what we have currently. Each group was given 3 letters from the alphabet and had to find things that started with those letters. The children really enjoyed getting outside and using chalk to draw their findings. We were lucky enough to be joined by Room 8.
