Inquiry

Over the next week the children are re-searching their own question for our Inquiry. They are learning how to read information, find key words and then write notes on what they have read. If you could find some time to research with your child, using their key question this would help out in class, as well as give you an insight into what we are learning. Many thanks, Miss Rooney

Persuasive Writing

At the moment we are learning how to write a persuasive argument. The topic we have just finished was "All Kids Should have Jobs". The children had to pick a side and persuade the audience to agree with them. Here are some of the fantastic ideas that the children came up with.
AGREE -
Children will get lots of money for their jobs and will not get bored when their jobs are done because they will be able to buy very cool toys. - Bowen H

Mum will have a clean house because I will be helping Mum clean. - John E

If your Dad has to go away for work in Australia and he doesn't have any spending money, you could lend him the money you earned working at your job. - Joshua K

We could buy whatever we wanted with the money and our Mums couldn't disagree! - Ben P

Children will be fit and healthy because they are always doing jobs. - Charlie M

DISAGREE
Firstly kids will be too tired after school. Secondly they will get no time to play! - Andrew G

Well done Room 9 writers, keep up the good work!
Miss Rooney

Air Force Museum

Today we went to the Air Force Museum. It was a fantastic day that I enjoyed just as much (if not more) than the children. We all learnt so much and were exposed to the old and the new roles of the NZAF. We took so many photos that they cannot all go up on here but please feel free to come in and have a look on Monday morning.

Army Visit

We were lucky enough today to have two guest speakers from the Army come and speak to the children. They gave us an insight into what life is like for them, the equipment they use and the training they go through. The children really enjoyed this experience and learnt a wide range of information.

Talia and Angus were chosen to try on some of the Army gear!

On Friday the children and wider school community participated in the O.L.A. Anzac ceremony. We were remembering our fallen heroes, and acknowledging the many great deeds of our Defence Forces currently.
It was a moving ceremony that was very well organised by Mr A.
